About me

Who I Am

I’m someone who is interested in how human beings work. How we function as individuals, and how we are influenced by and contribute to the groups within which we develop, survive and thrive.

I’m also someone who has experienced the need for change and adaptation in myself. I don’t underestimate that this can be a painful process, involving tuning in to parts of ourselves that we may find it difficult to be prepared to hear, and reluctant to accept responsibility for. But I believe that the majority of our feelings are adaptive and have something of value to communicate to us.

Outside of private practice,  I have worked with adolescents for over 20 years,  and greatly cherish the challenge, energy and creativity of young people.  A key part of my past work has been to help care-leavers and young homeless people transition to successful independent living, and I continue to enjoy working with adolescents in my current practice.

My early years as a counsellor were spent within the hospice movement, working with bereaved clients and clients with life-changing illness.

In addition to counselling,  I have worked as a specialist mentor with students with ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Condition, Eating Disorders and other psychological and emotional needs.
